Debbi Johanning

Parent Member, 2015
Primary office:

I put my son, Cooper, on the waiting list for Hilltop exactly three months after he was born, and he began attending as a Caterpillar in 2013. He was a Butterfly, Salamander, and is in his final year at Hilltop as a Cottontail. I joined the Board of Directors in 2015 because I wanted to contribute more to the Hilltop community that we have come to love so much. I am currently a parent member on the board and serve as chair of the Parent Support Committee and a member of the Communications Planning Committee.

I have worked at the KU Alumni Association since 2010 and am currently the Director of Digital Media, helping to manage website content, social media and email marketing. I also work closely with our program and events team, membership team and data integration committee.

Prior to my role at the KU Alumni Association, I worked in the KU student financial aid office as a student loan coordinator and for U.S. Bank in the student loan department. I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Kansas and am currently working on a master’s in digital content strategy through the KU School of Journalism.

In addition to my role on the Hilltop Board of Directors, I serve on the board of directors for the Social Media Club of Lawrence, the Communications and Donor Relations Committee for the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association, and as treasurer of the Greater Kansas City Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi. I also recently wrapped up a three-year term on the board of the Lawrence Humane Society. My husband and I co-own The Sandbar in downtown Lawrence and enjoy being involved in the Lawrence community.
