2-Year-Old Program

Hilltop has four 2-Year-Old classrooms (for children 2-3) designed to build upon the skills gained in the toddler years and continue the nurturing, exciting and educational opportunities for the children:

  • Butterfly Room
  • Ladybug Room
  • Cricket Room
  • Tree Frog Room

Each classroom is staffed with a full-time Teachers, as well as several part-time aides throughout the day. The teaching staff works hard to carry on the warmth and security established the previous year, while preparing children for the upcoming transition to preschool.

The 2-Year-Old rooms offers the same well-rounded curriculum described for toddlers, but with additional complexities based on their changing needs, growth and development. They focus even more heavily on self-help skills, including toilet training and dressing. Children also begin to experience more involved large-group curriculum and gain more exposure to making activity choices. As the children approach preschool, activities begin to naturally take a more structured shape, but the emphasis remains upon fostering inquisitiveness, expression and fun!

To enter a 2-Year-Old room, children must be 24 months by Aug. 1 of the school year in which they begin. Ratio is 1 adult per 7 children with a total of 14 children per room.
