Steve Allton

Past President, Parent Member, 2017
Primary office:

I am excited to have the opportunity to serve the Hilltop community as a parent board member. My oldest daughter has been a Tree Frog, Cottontail and Meadowlark, and she is getting ready to “graduate” to start kindergarten. It was been a terrific experience to watch her learn and grow under the direction of so many talented teachers and assistants. My youngest daughter will begin her Hilltop experience in August.

I am an attorney with 12 years of service in the public sector. Within the state, I have worked as a research attorney to a Kansas Supreme Court justice and an assistant attorney general representing state agencies and officials in administrative matters and all aspects of litigation. Currently, I work as a staff attorney for Legal Services for Students at the University of Kansas. In this role, I counsel, educate and provide legal assistance to students on a wide variety of legal issues including international and domestic tax, landlord/tenant, consumer and criminal matters. I enjoy working with students and assisting with their unique challenges.

In addition to my law degree from the University of Kansas, I also have bachelor's degrees in music education, psychology and human development, as well as a recent master’s in public administration from KU. I hope to utilize my educational background and work experiences to inform the Hilltop policy and decision-making processes.
